Ngwe Saung Beach
Ngwe Saung is a beach resort located 48 km west of Pathein, Ayeyarwaddy Region, Myanmar. It is also situated to the west of Myanmar in the Bay of Bengal. ‘Ngwe’ means silver, which explains perfectly the silvery sand on the beach here.
The beach is 5 hours drive, with no traffic, away from the principal city of Yangon. Ngwe Saung is a popular destination for less budget conscious tourists from Lower Myanmar. Opened in March 2000, Ngwe Saung is newer than nearby and more popular, and is designed to attract people with larger holiday budgets. This beach is a perfect place to relax after a few weeks’ travelling around Myanmar. The beach stretches 15 km of silvery sand and modern amenities, blue sea, untouched surrounding, magnificent landscaping, most of all new hotels at chalet style with international standard and fringed with palm trees. It has also a host of places that serve a variety of fantastic seafood dishes, including crab, shrimp, lobster, and various types of fish, as well as shops selling locally-produced handicrafts. You could take an excursion trip to nearby islands and enjoy light snorkeling there.
